Virginia Dale
Virginia Dale is just a spot on the map today. A spot with an intriguing name and colorful
history. Driving from Fort Collins to Laramie on US highway 287, you can see only a little
white church on your left, then a closed cafe on your right and
little bit farther an old log school. Established in 1862, Virginia Dale was one of the most noted
localities in the Western United States in the late 1800's due to the
Stage Station built on the
Overland Trail. The hand-hewn log building of the Station is still standing about a mile east from
the highway.
