A former summer residence of King Stanislaw August Poniatowski, Lazienki is a park-and-palace complex, one of the most beautiful in Poland. One a hunting ground attached to the Ujazdow Castle, the are was acquired by the king in 1776 and within a short time transformed into a splendid park complete with a palace, an amphiteatre and a number of buidings scattered around. Despite various ups and downs the complex has retained it original shape and architecture and is a perfect place for a walk.
